MOTHER.tech Raises $15M Seed to Build AI-Native Creative Platform for Generators

Every platform in tech keeps selling creativity like it’s a productivity contest sponsored by Adderall and investor decks. Post faster. Optimize harder. Feed the algorithm before the algorithm feeds on you. MOTHER.tech walked into that environment with the energy of somebody unplugging the jukebox in a dive bar because the music started sounding too desperate.

Brooklyn-based MOTHER.tech just pulled in $15M in seed funding led by GV, with Lerer Hippeau, BoxGroup, and Shine Capital joining the table. Real firms with pattern recognition sharp enough to smell momentum before the rest of the market even opens the laptop. And the company behind it is not trying to bolt AI onto some tired social product like a spoiler on a Honda Civic. They are building native to the medium. Different DNA entirely.

Kelsey Falter, Raissa Chagas, and Miles Seiver are not coming at this from the usual “growth hack your dopamine receptors into dust” school of product design either. The internet trained an entire generation to perform constantly. Post. Refresh. Repeat. Like pigeons in a Skinner box wearing Arc’teryx and pretending burnout is networking. MOTHER.tech is pushing the other direction.

Their product, Degen, lets users generate images, videos, memes, text, and carousels through modular AI tools called “gens.” One tap. No prompt-engineering dissertation required. No pretending everybody secretly wants to become a machine learning operator at 2 a.m. while 12 Chrome tabs slowly drain their will to live. The system handles the complexity in the background so users can focus on instinct, taste, timing, and speed, which is how creativity has always worked.

The creators building these generators can monetize them. That changes the temperature in the room. Suddenly AI stops looking like a machine designed to flatten artists into wallpaper and starts looking more like infrastructure for creative economies.

The company also made content private by default. No vanity metrics hanging over every post like a casino scoreboard. No algorithmic “for you” feed engineered to hijack attention spans until your brain feels like airport carpeting. In a market addicted to engagement loops, MOTHER.tech is betting people still want spaces that feel human underneath the software.

That’s the real signal in this round. Not just AI. Everybody has AI now. Toothbrushes probably have seed rounds and inference layers at this point. The signal is taste. Product intuition. Knowing culture moves faster than corporate planning decks. Knowing creators do not want more noise. They want leverage. They want velocity. They want tools that feel intuitive instead of exhausting. And GV, Lerer Hippeau, BoxGroup, and Shine Capital clearly saw the same thing.
