Vensum Power Raises $10M Series A for Power Converters

A power converter earns its efficiency rating under particular conditions. The equipment downstream has other appointments: a charging session begins, a battery changes direction, an AI workload surges. Vensum Power is building its business around keeping conversion efficient through those changes, giving industrial customers a way to recover usable power inside infrastructure they already have.

The Espoo, Finland company announced a Series A on November 6, 2026, co-led by Lifeline Ventures, Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures. The round is approximately $10M in USD equivalent. It finances planned industrial production in 2027 for EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids, with expansion into AI data centers to follow.

That sequence gives the announcement its substance. Vensum Power is preparing a physical product for existing electrification markets while developing an opportunity in computing, where electricity availability increasingly determines how much equipment can run. The engineering has to travel with the company from one application to the next.

What Vensum Power's Series A finances

The financing pairs a returning venture investor with two new industrial backers. The Finnish-language announcement also names existing investors Grid.vc and Harjavalta Ventures as participants. Vensum Power reports total financing of approximately $17M in USD equivalent after the round, without disclosing a valuation or individual investment amounts.

The announcement's original amounts are €9M for the Series A and €15.2M for total financing. The dollar equivalents use the European Central Bank's November 6 reference rate of $1.1165 per euro and are rounded. Total financing is the company's reported figure; the disclosure does not provide a complete breakdown by financing instrument.

CEO Peter Nisula and COO Tero Lehtonen now have a manufacturing assignment alongside the technology work. The company says the first production applications will serve charging, storage and DC microgrids. Those customers need equipment designed around their operating conditions, making productization and delivery consequential uses of the capital.

Vensum Power's own production timetable puts 2027 on the calendar. That remains a company plan, rather than completed manufacturing output. It gives readers a concrete milestone to follow before treating the company's AI ambitions as an established data-center business.

Why changing loads matter to power conversion

Power conversion changes electricity into the form required by equipment. Some energy is lost during that process, creating heat instead of reaching the load as useful power. Vensum Power's approach puts software control inside the conversion system, using what it describes as soft-switching techniques to reduce losses.

The company emphasizes efficiency across operating ranges, including conditions where demand changes rapidly. Its technology description explains why a converter optimized around a narrow peak can leave room for improvement in real installations. An operator has to live with the entire pattern of use, including the hours that sit away from the best-looking point on a specification.

Vensum Power calls its approach near-lossless. That is the company's characterization, and the sources reviewed do not establish independently audited performance across customer installations. A buyer still needs to understand the voltage range, load profile and thermal conditions behind any efficiency number before translating it into savings for a particular system.

The distinction has a practical commercial consequence. Better conversion can make more of an existing electricity connection available to equipment and can reduce the heat that must be managed. The value will vary with the installation, so the useful sales conversation is about a customer's operating conditions and the equipment being designed around them.

Industrial investors have reasons to understand the application

Larsen & Toubro Group brings engineering and technology operations to the investor group. Eviny Ventures is the investment arm of a renewable-energy and infrastructure business. Their participation connects Vensum Power with institutions that encounter electrification's physical constraints in their own work, alongside Lifeline Ventures' continuing financial backing.

That composition is commercially interesting without implying an undisclosed purchase order. Shareholding gives an investor a financial interest in the supplier's progress; it does not establish that an operating subsidiary has selected its equipment. The announcement identifies investment and experience, leaving future customer relationships to be established on their own terms.

Vensum Power describes a platform adapted to individual applications, with solution engineers designing and testing configurations early in development. Storage, charging and microgrids impose different requirements. A common conversion platform still has to become equipment that fits the customer's system, budget and physical space.

That work sits inside a wider infrastructure buildout. DevCuration's coverage of Emerald AI's flexible data-center approach and Heron Power's factory financing follows adjacent efforts to make electricity and computing capacity work together. Vensum Power's contribution is at the conversion step, where available energy becomes usable output.

The route from Finnish research to production customers

Vensum Power was founded in 2018 by Jyrki Penttonen and Mika Marjalaakso. In an Aalto University interview, Peter Nisula described the team's decision to keep going after Jyrki Penttonen died in 2022. That history matters to the continuity of the company, whose work began well before its latest AI-market positioning.

The November announcement puts the team at around 20 people. Its careers page locates the business at Aalto University's campus in Espoo and accepts open applications. The sources do not establish a quantified hiring commitment, named data-center customers or a public order book for the new production phase.

The demand context is substantial. The International Energy Agency's Energy and AI analysis estimates global data-center electricity consumption at around 415TWh in 2024 and projects about 945TWh by 2030 in its base case. Those figures describe a scenario for the sector, not revenue available to any one component supplier.

For Vensum Power, the near-term work remains with the manufacturers preparing charging systems, storage equipment and DC microgrids. Production engineering will turn the software-defined approach into hardware those customers can incorporate into their own designs. As 2027 approaches, their integration requirements will give the company's next stage its shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does efficiency across changing loads matter to equipment buyers?

A converter operates across different loads and voltages, so peak efficiency alone does not describe its full energy use. Vensum Power says software control helps maintain efficiency across changing conditions; buyers still need measurements for their own installation.

Which markets come first in Vensum Power’s manufacturing plan?

The November 2026 announcement targets industrial production in 2027 for EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids. AI data centers are a subsequent expansion target rather than a disclosed installed customer base.

What is distinctive about the Series A investor group?

Existing investor Lifeline Ventures co-led the round with Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures, bringing industrial engineering and energy-infrastructure experience alongside venture backing. The investments do not establish that the industrial groups have signed equipment purchase contracts.

How were the US dollar funding figures calculated?

The announced round was €9M, approximately $10M using the ECB’s November 6, 2026 reference rate of $1.1165 per euro. Reported total financing of €15.2M is approximately $17M using the same rate; the announcement does not provide a complete financing-instrument breakdown.

What should customers establish before evaluating near-lossless conversion?

Near-lossless is Vensum Power’s description of its technology. Customers should assess measured efficiency across relevant voltage and load ranges, thermal conditions and integration requirements; independently audited installation-wide results were not established in the reviewed sources.
