Meduloc Raises $4M Series B for Fracture Fixation Platform

Meduloc, a Del Mar, California orthopedic medical-device company, has closed a $4M Series B led by GenHenn Capital, moving the company into the next stage of commercialization for its FDA-cleared flexible nitinol intramedullary fracture fixation platform. Life Sciences Greenhouse Investments, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Broad Street Angels, former Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Andre Ethier, and additional existing and new investors participated in the financing. The capital will support Meduloc’s controlled alpha launch, clinical evidence generation, and commercial infrastructure.

The timing matters more than the size of the check. Meduloc received FDA 510(k) clearance for its intramedullary fracture fixation system in November 2025. Founder and inventor Joshua Hustedt, MD, MHS, completed the first in-human case in May 2026, treating a comminuted, displaced second metacarpal fracture. Meduloc is now entering a controlled alpha launch with select orthopedic surgeons and institutions, moving from product development through regulatory clearance and early clinical use into controlled commercialization. That makes this funding less about venture-capital theater and more about execution risk changing shape.

What Happened

Founded in 2016, Meduloc develops a sterile, single-use flexible nitinol intramedullary implant system for fracture fixation. The platform is designed to provide fracture reduction and rotational stability through a minimally invasive, soft-tissue-sparing surgical approach. Meduloc’s platform addresses fractures involving the metacarpal, metatarsal, phalange, clavicle, radius, ulna, and fibula across adult and pediatric patients. That puts the company squarely inside orthopedic medical devices, where engineering requirements, clinical realities, regulatory scrutiny, surgeon preferences, and commercialization economics all show up for the same meeting. Software gets to ship a patch. Bones remain stubbornly analog.

The $4M Series B was led by GenHenn Capital and arrives as Meduloc enters its controlled alpha launch. CEO and President Sarah Sachinis leads Meduloc at this stage alongside founder Joshua Hustedt and Meduloc Co-Founders Benjamin Arnold and Brian Bowman. Benjamin Arnold also serves as CEO of Cor Medical Ventures, while Brian Bowman serves as CTO of Cor Medical Ventures. Michael Collins is a Meduloc Director and COO of Cor Medical Ventures. The relationship matters because Cor Medical Ventures has been part of Meduloc’s company-building story from its formation.

Why Meduloc’s $4M Series B Matters

The useful way to read Meduloc’s Series B is through sequencing. Meduloc developed the device, moved through regulatory clearance, completed its first in-human case, and is now entering controlled clinical adoption. The $4M financing follows those milestones rather than preceding them. That distinction matters in medical devices because capital cannot politely negotiate with biology. A product eventually has to leave the presentation deck, enter clinical practice, and demonstrate that surgeons can use it as intended. Regulatory clearance opens a door. Clinical experience determines what happens after everybody walks through it.

Meduloc’s next challenge therefore changes from proving that a device can reach the market to building the evidence and commercial infrastructure required for broader adoption. The Series B proceeds are intended to fund precisely that transition: controlled alpha launch activities, continued clinical evidence generation, and commercial infrastructure. For operators and investors, there is a broader lesson buried inside the financing. Milestone-driven companies can make fundraising more compelling by removing specific categories of uncertainty before asking investors to finance the next one. Meduloc is not finished proving its commercial case. It has simply moved the argument onto harder and more meaningful ground.

The Technology Behind Meduloc

Meduloc’s core technology is a flexible nitinol intramedullary implant system designed for internal fracture fixation. The system is sterile and single-use, with a minimally invasive approach intended to preserve anatomy while providing fracture reduction and rotational stability. In Meduloc’s platform, the engineering proposition centers on achieving stability without defaulting to a more disruptive surgical footprint. That sounds tidy on paper. Orthopedic surgery rarely is.

Fractures differ. Anatomy differs. Patients differ. Surgeons develop preferences through thousands of decisions that happen far away from venture-capital conference rooms. Meduloc’s controlled alpha launch is consequently important because it moves the product deeper into the environment where medical-device companies earn or lose credibility: actual clinical use. Meduloc has identified applications across the metacarpal, metatarsal, phalange, clavicle, radius, ulna, and fibula. The strategic opportunity is not merely having multiple applications. It is generating the clinical experience necessary to understand how the platform performs across those applications as commercialization develops.

Market Context: Medical Devices Reward Evidence

Meduloc’s financing reflects a basic reality of medical-device investing: technical promise becomes more valuable as discrete risks disappear. A company can have elegant engineering and still face regulatory risk. It can receive regulatory clearance and still face adoption risk. Surgeons can like a product while commercial execution remains expensive, slow, or complicated. Each milestone removes one question and introduces a more sophisticated one.

Meduloc has already crossed an important regulatory threshold with FDA 510(k) clearance. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 510(k) program provides the regulatory framework behind that milestone. Meduloc’s May 2026 first-in-human case added an early clinical milestone, while the controlled alpha launch creates another test: how the system behaves as selected surgeons and institutions build experience with it. That is why the $4M Series B deserves attention beyond the funding headline. The financing sits between regulatory achievement and broader commercial ambition, a period when disciplined clinical evidence generation can matter as much as sales infrastructure.

Leadership and the Cor Medical Ventures Connection

Meduloc’s leadership structure combines operating management, clinical invention, and medical-device venture development. Sarah Sachinis serves as CEO and President of Meduloc. Joshua Hustedt, MD, MHS, is Meduloc’s founder and the inventor behind the technology. Joshua Hustedt is also a practicing hand and upper-extremity surgeon and is affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Benjamin Arnold is a Meduloc Director and Co-Founder while also serving as CEO of Cor Medical Ventures. Brian Bowman is a Meduloc Co-Founder and CTO of Cor Medical Ventures. Michael Collins serves as a Meduloc Director and COO of Cor Medical Ventures. Those distinctions matter because startup biographies have a habit of turning corporate relationships into alphabet soup. Cor Medical Ventures and Meduloc are separate entities, but Cor Medical Ventures participated in Meduloc’s formation and remains connected through members of Meduloc’s leadership and governance structure.

What This Signals

Meduloc’s Series B illustrates where value creation becomes interesting in regulated technology. The flashy moment is often the funding announcement. The consequential work happens afterward, when capital gets converted into clinical evidence, physician experience, operating infrastructure, and ultimately adoption. Meduloc now has $4M to push further into that process. For GenHenn Capital, Life Sciences Greenhouse Investments, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Broad Street Angels, Andre Ethier, and the other participating investors, the next markers will come from what Meduloc demonstrates during and after its controlled alpha launch.

For Sarah Sachinis, Joshua Hustedt, Benjamin Arnold, Brian Bowman, Michael Collins, and the Meduloc team, the financing provides additional runway to turn regulatory and early clinical progress into a stronger commercialization case. The headline is $4M. The market-intelligence question is what becomes measurably different because Meduloc now has it.
