Different Raises $48M Seed for AI Demand Generation
Before Different plans a campaign, it asks for the material a marketing department usually has to explain again: the product, the audience, the offer and what worked last time. Keeping that knowledge available gives the San Francisco startup a specific place in the AI marketing market, where producing another asset is becoming easier than deciding which asset deserves a budget.
Different emerged from stealth on October 20, 2026, backed by a $48M seed round led by General Catalyst. Co-founders Ajeet Singh, Abhishek Pani and Abhinav Yajurvedi are building a demand-generation system for lean B2B teams, with funding supporting engineering and go-to-market expansion. Its commercial proposition puts campaign execution, human approval and retained learning into the same working relationship.
Why Ajeet Singh Returned to the Marketing Handoff
Singh's launch account begins with the work he encountered while building Nutanix and ThoughtSpot. Adding specialists and tools increased what a marketing team could attempt, while also increasing the coordination required to carry an idea into market. Getting a campaign out could consume the time needed to learn from it before the next campaign arrived.
That history gives Different a more precise starting point than the promise of faster content. A company can produce ads, emails and landing pages quickly and still ask people to reconcile audiences, approvals, schedules and results. The management work follows the campaign across the same channels that are supposed to make distribution easier.
The founding team brings experience with several parts of that problem. Singh is CEO; Pani, the CPO, previously led the machine-learning team behind Adobe's marketing products. CTO Yajurvedi built marketing infrastructure for Flipkart and Myntra. Their backgrounds connect the founder buying marketing capacity with the engineers responsible for delivering it.
General Catalyst led the seed financing, with Lightspeed Venture Partners, Together Fund, Haystack Ventures, MXV Capital and Firebolt Ventures participating. Different identifies General Catalyst CEO Hemant Taneja as a board member. The announcement gives no valuation or separate prior-round history, so the $48M should be read as the disclosed seed amount rather than a reconstructed lifetime funding total.
How Different Keeps the Campaign Together
Different describes a product workflow that starts with business context and moves through planning, creation, review, launch, optimization and learning. A marketer sets the goal and boundaries; the system recommends an audience, message, channels and budget. Ads, emails and landing pages are then assembled around that plan, with people reviewing the work before it goes live.
The continuing job matters as much as launch. Different says it monitors execution, works within approved spending ranges and carries results back into shared memory. A result associated with a particular message, persona or channel can inform the next recommendation. That creates an operating loop in which a campaign can leave useful knowledge behind for the team commissioning its successor.
Its current integration list includes HubSpot CRM, HubSpot and Marketo email, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, landing pages and Google Tag Manager. Salesforce CRM and Reddit Ads are marked as forthcoming. A buyer evaluating the product needs that distinction because a cross-channel system inherits the availability and limitations of the connections doing the work.
The product also describes failure handling for rejected ads and incomplete synchronization. Those details make the software relationship concrete: an exception has to be corrected or brought back to a person. For a lean team, the value of automation depends partly on how much investigation accompanies that return trip, especially once multiple campaigns are running together.
What the Customer Accounts Actually Establish
Different's Motif case study describes a 3-person marketing team moving from one concurrent campaign to more than a dozen across 4 channels in a month. The same account describes shorter planning cycles and quicker testing. These are company-published customer results, useful evidence of the intended workflow but without an independent performance audit supplied.
The Descope case study puts audience differences closer to the sales conversation. Different reports that 2 marketers reached 2,800 target accounts across enterprise and commercial segments, while redirecting 60% of paid spend identified as poorly targeted. The story describes a weekly account-priority list for sales, connecting campaign response to the next person a representative calls.
For a B2B operator, that handoff is commercially interesting. A campaign can generate attention from people with different responsibilities, and the sales team still needs a useful explanation of why an account responded. Preserving the relationship between the message and the response can make that explanation more specific than a single engagement score.
The available customer accounts do not provide audited incremental revenue, retention or a general return-on-investment benchmark. They show how named teams say they use the product and what changed in their work. Broader claims about headcount replacement or guaranteed pipeline would go beyond the evidence, particularly when an increase in concurrent campaigns says little by itself about the quality of resulting opportunities.
Where the New Capital Meets the Marketer's Judgment
Different is entering the part of enterprise AI where the buyer's work continues after the software produces an answer. Its product asks marketers to approve campaigns, define acceptable spending and respond to exceptions. That keeps judgment inside the operating process, even as more production and coordination move into the system.
DevCuration's coverage of RapidCanvas and managed enterprise AI also follows the continuing work around software deployment. For Different, the comparison set includes several purchasing choices: a general-purpose model used for individual tasks, separate marketing tools coordinated by employees, and outside help managing the campaign. Different's proposed unit of value is the continuing campaign and the learning that can travel with it. Whether that arrangement is attractive depends on a team's existing stack, review capacity and need to coordinate channels.
The engineering and go-to-market expansion funded by the seed round has to support both sides of that relationship. More integrations increase the range of work the system can attempt; reliable controls help a buyer remain comfortable letting it continue. Different's careers page identifies teams in San Francisco and Bangalore, giving that expansion a visible hiring geography without disclosing a staffing target.
As another campaign begins, the marketer still chooses which customer to pursue and what the company wants to say. Different wants the evidence from the previous run already waiting at that decision, close enough to change the audience, the offer or the next dollar committed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Different fit into a B2B marketing team’s existing work?
Different connects campaign planning, asset creation, launch and optimization across channels. Marketers supply business context, set budget and brand limits, and review campaigns before launch.
What can campaign memory change for a lean marketing team?
Different says it retains results by message, audience and channel so later campaigns can use earlier learning. That can reduce repeated briefing and help a team choose which message or audience to test next.
Which integrations are live, and which are still planned?
Different’s product page lists HubSpot CRM, HubSpot and Marketo email, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, landing pages and Google Tag Manager. Salesforce CRM and Reddit Ads are marked as forthcoming.
How should buyers interpret Different’s early customer metrics?
The Motif and Descope examples are company-published customer accounts rather than independently audited ROI studies. They describe changes in campaign capacity and targeting, without establishing a general revenue or headcount-replacement benchmark.
What will Different’s seed capital support?
Different says the $48M seed round will expand engineering and go-to-market teams. General Catalyst led the financing, joined by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Together Fund, Haystack Ventures, MXV Capital and Firebolt Ventures.
