Wrapped Health Raises $2.1M for Clinical Health Commerce

A clinician choosing a recovery product has already made a decision the retailer never heard. Wrapped Health is building a way to carry that clinical context into the purchase, giving a practice more control over what happens after a patient leaves the appointment.

The Washington, DC company announced $2.1M in Pre-Seed funding on October 29, 2026, co-led by Lightbank and Arteria Capital. Co-founder and CEO Max Russell-Harris is putting the capital toward product and engineering development, additional electronic health record integrations, and partnerships with healthcare organizations. The investment addresses a small but consequential division of labor: a provider recommends something, then a patient or family has to translate that guidance into the correct purchase.

Wrapped describes an AI-enabled workflow inside the electronic health record, or EHR, where care teams can review product recommendations and send patients a purchasing link. Its place between the practice and the retailer creates an operating proposition for healthcare buyers: extend the usefulness of the care plan without asking the medical office to become a shop. That proposition reaches beyond checkout convenience, into how much responsibility a practice can retain for the patient experience once the consultation ends.

Why a family shopping problem became an EHR company

In his account of starting Wrapped Health, Max Russell-Harris describes his family's struggle to find recovery products after his father's surgery. The instructions existed, but obtaining the supplies became another assignment during an already demanding period. That origin gives the company a specific problem to solve: useful clinical guidance can still arrive in a form that leaves the recipient doing considerable work.

The distinction matters commercially because the uncertainty can travel back to the practice. A patient choosing among similar products may need clarification about a size, formulation or intended use. Wrapped's current materials frame this repeated follow-up as part of the practice's workload, alongside the inconvenience experienced by the patient. Improving the handoff therefore has two audiences, each with a different reason to want fewer unresolved details.

Wrapped's design keeps a clinician involved in the recommendation while connecting the patient with retailers for the purchase. According to the company, patients can use FSA or HSA funds for eligible products. Eligibility remains a condition attached to the purchase; the availability of a payment route should never be confused with a claim that every item qualifies. For a healthcare organization assessing the service, the relevant question is how much of the original recommendation survives the journey into a product selection the patient can understand and obtain.

What the financing backs inside the practice

Lightbank and Arteria Capital are financing work that starts inside an existing clinical routine. Lightbank partner Eric Ong's comments in the announcement emphasize the clinician workflow. Arteria founder and general partner Russell Glass, formerly CEO of Headspace, emphasizes convenience as a factor in whether people act on healthcare guidance. Their perspectives meet at the point where professional advice becomes something the patient must arrange outside the office.

The company's product materials say the practice does not manage inventory, payments or fulfillment. That division of responsibility gives the integration a practical sales argument: a provider can make recommendations more actionable while leaving the retail tasks to another organization. Adding a shopping workflow to a medical office would otherwise risk creating more operational work for the people the product is meant to help.

The announced use of capital follows that model. Product and engineering development sit alongside additional EHR connections and partnerships with independent practices, health systems and digital health platforms. Each connection is a route into a different set of care teams and their established habits. In that setting, integration work belongs in the commercial story because access to the clinical workflow shapes where Wrapped can offer its service. The financing supports expansion of that access, while revenue, valuation and the economics of individual deployments remain undisclosed in the announcement.

Marketplace access and the work of adoption

Wrapped says it is live in clinics and available through the athenahealth Marketplace to more than 180,000 clinicians using athenaOne. The number describes the network the marketplace can reach, rather than a disclosed count of active Wrapped customers. The company identifies athenahealth as live on its website; Epic, ModMed and eClinicalWorks appear as planned integrations. A buyer using one of those systems should read the roadmap as a development plan.

That starting position matters for an early company. An EHR connection can put the service close to a recommendation as it is made, rather than asking a patient to reconstruct the appointment later in a separate consumer application. The opportunity depends on that proximity remaining useful through clinician review, patient receipt and the eventual purchase. Marketplace access establishes a distribution route; each practice still brings its own working routine to adoption.

The larger operating question sits with the recommendation itself. A provider's choice carries a reason, while retail catalogs organize products around the transaction. Wrapped is attempting to preserve the connection between those two contexts, with care teams controlling what they send and retailers handling what gets bought. For a practice evaluating Wrapped, the integration reaches into a relationship it already owns. The recommendation leaves under the clinician's name, carrying that practice's judgment into a transaction another organization will fulfill.
