Sunbound Raises $24M Series A and Acquires Richter

Jennifer Richter will help shape product strategy at the company that just bought her firm. For Sunbound, bringing the Richter Healthcare Consultants founder into that work connects its financial software to more than 25 years of experience with the bills, reimbursements and relationships that keep senior care operating.

Sunbound announced on October 15, 2026 that it had completed the acquisition and disclosed a $24M Series A led by TTV Capital. Bling Capital, Fika Ventures, Live Oak Bank and Ziegler Linkage Fund participated, bringing company-reported total funding to $36M. The acquisition price was undisclosed, and the financing supports business growth and product development.

The combination extends Sunbound's work in senior living into the specialized financial demands of skilled nursing and post-acute care. It also gives operators a supplier taking responsibility for more of the journey from admission to payment, with software and billing specialists inside the same business. That arrangement reaches into the time community staff would otherwise spend finding someone who can explain an unpaid balance.

What Sunbound's financing and acquisition change

The $24M Series A and the Richter acquisition are separate transactions disclosed together. Sunbound did not publish the purchase price, an exact funding close date or a valuation. Its April product announcement had already referred to a closed Series A, so the October disclosure should be understood as an announcement of the amount and participants alongside the acquisition, rather than proof of a new closing that day.

TTV Capital, which lists Sunbound in its portfolio, brings a fintech investing focus to a company whose work combines money movement and financial operations. The syndicate is backing a business that must understand both how care providers get paid and how their teams actually work. That creates a different product responsibility from selling a payment button and leaving the reconciliation to somebody else.

Richter Healthcare Consultants adds accounting, Medicaid eligibility, reimbursement and clinical consulting, audit support and EHR implementation experience. Its clients include skilled nursing, senior living, home health and hospice operators. Jennifer Richter, CPA, will remain in a role focused on industry partnerships and product strategy, while the combined business says clients will maintain service continuity and gain access to additional offerings over time.

For an existing Richter customer, those continuity commitments matter as much as the technology roadmap. A finance team already relying on a specialist for a difficult account needs that working knowledge to survive an ownership change. Sunbound is acquiring relationships that still have work due after the announcement, alongside expertise that can inform how the software handles the next account.

Revenue work begins before the claim

Sunbound's admissions product starts at a decision that can become expensive well before an invoice ages: whether a resident's coverage, income and assets support the proposed stay. The company describes tools for payer verification, financial screening and spend-down modeling, alongside digital intake. Their purpose is to bring the financial picture into the move-in decision while staff are also responding to a family's immediate care needs.

That timing makes admissions part of the revenue operation. A community can agree to a move-in before it understands how long the resident can pay or when another payer may need to take over. Connecting the intake information with later billing gives the supplier an opportunity to carry the original facts forward, reducing the amount of financial history that has to be reconstructed when a payment becomes difficult.

Sunbound's revenue cycle management offering works above an operator's existing electronic health record. It covers eligibility checks, authorizations, claim preparation and validation, denials, appeals, payment posting and reconciliation. The product pairs automated checks with specialists who handle complex exceptions, making the division between software work and human judgment part of the service the operator buys.

Private Payments addresses the family side through digital payment options, reminders and support. Taken together, the offerings touch people who encounter the same resident balance from different directions: admissions staff, billing specialists, finance leaders and family members. The commercial opportunity comes from making their work connect, so each person can act on the same financial situation without starting the explanation again.

The people behind a broader financial service

Sunbound's current leadership page identifies Manny Cominsky as co-founder and CEO and Stuart Mason as co-founder and CIO. CTO Jiashu Wang leads technology, with Amy Raymond as COO and Ashley Faust-Marbury as CRO. The organization now has to combine product development, service delivery and the acquired firm's operating knowledge as it expands its reach in skilled nursing.

The scale figures describe different things and deserve separate treatment. Sunbound's website reports more than $1B in annual payments processed, while the acquisition announcement says the combined companies are on track for $3B in annualized payment volume. The latter is a company projection of processing activity, not a statement of revenue, valuation or a completed year's transactions.

The strategic implication is that senior-care financial automation can deepen the role of experienced operators inside a software business. Richter's knowledge includes the context around a payment problem, from reimbursement work to the records and practices that support a claim. Bringing that knowledge closer to product decisions could help Sunbound address recurring causes as well as individual exceptions; the integration work will determine how consistently that happens across customers.

The immediate work remains specific to each community. Its existing systems need usable records, its billing team needs a clear route through an exception, and its families need an understandable answer about what they owe. Jennifer Richter's continuing role puts those accumulated client conversations nearer to Sunbound's product choices as the combined team takes on the next round of admissions, claims and payments.
