Laminar Raises $3M in Seed Funding to Build Observability Platform for AI Agents

Laminar is one of those names that feels calm until you realize what is actually moving underneath it. Laminar flow in physics is smooth, predictable, controlled. Laminar the company is chasing the exact opposite environment. AI agents that run for 30 minutes, make 100+ decisions, and then quietly fail somewhere between step 83 and 112 like a pilot losing instruments mid flight.

Robert Kim (CEO) and Dinmukhamed Mailibay (CTO) are not building another dashboard to count tokens and call it insight. They are staring directly at the blind spot that every team deploying agents eventually hits. Traditional observability was designed for short bursts, clean inputs, clean outputs, neat loops that start and finish before anyone questions what happened in the middle. Agents do not behave like that. They wander, branch, retry, improvise, and when they break, they do it with confidence.

Laminar’s answer is not more noise. It is clarity at the level where things actually go wrong. Traces that read like a story instead of a spreadsheet. The ability to interrogate a run and ask it what happened, not just where it stopped. A debugger that lets you step back into the moment things started to drift without burning tokens or losing state. Signals that surface patterns like an agent stuck in a loop, not because you coded the rule, but because you described the behavior in plain language and the system learned to recognize it.

That is why Atlantic.vc leaned in to lead a $3M seed round, joined by Y Combinator, AAL.vc, Ben Sigelman, and Ant Wilson. This is not a bet on tooling for today’s demos. This is a bet on infrastructure for when agents stop being experiments and start being employees.

6 people in San Francisco building for a world where one agent run can span minutes, tools, browsers, and decisions that stack on top of each other like a game of Jenga played in the dark. Integrations across frameworks like Claude Agent SDK, LiteLLM, and OpenHands signal where this is heading. Not optional tooling. Default layer.

There is a quiet truth sitting underneath all of this. If you cannot see what your agent is doing, you do not have an agent. You have a liability dressed up as automation. Laminar is not just observing the system. It is defining what visibility needs to look like when the system starts thinking back.
