Spotable Turns an Address Into a Construction Sales Workflow

Spotable turns a building address into a 3D model of a roof or facade, then carries those measurements toward a quote a contractor can send. The Ghent construction-technology company sits in a part of the sales process where time is expensive and revenue is still uncertain.

Sebastien Vandendriessche, CEO, Julie Dumoulin, CRO, and Pieter-Jan Philips, CTO, founded Spotable in late 2024. The company reports more than 350 roofing and facade-company customers, a team of 30, and more than 10 million square metres of roof processed. Its recent €4 million Seed round gives it capital to expand the product and enter France, Germany, and the United States.

The bigger story is not simply remote measurement. Spotable is trying to connect geometry, materials, labor, pricing, customer management, and proposals in one pre-sale workflow. If it works across markets, a contractor can spend less time measuring jobs that may never be won and more time deciding which opportunities deserve attention.

A Construction Startup That Began With Swimming Pools

Spotable's founding story started before there was a roofing product. Vandendriessche ran a pool-supply business and built an algorithm that scanned aerial imagery for swimming pools in residential gardens. The imagery revealed a broader object sitting over nearly every property: the roof.

Vandendriessche, Dumoulin, and Philips were each running something else when they began building together on weekends. Their first office was a windowless storage room inside Ghent's Wintercircus. Around ten people worked there, calling it the Bunker.

That origin explains the product's practical bias. The initial insight was not that construction needed more software. It was that visual and geographic data could remove expensive fieldwork from a sales process that still depended on ladders, tape measures, spreadsheets, and uncertain site visits.

From an Address to a Customer-Ready Quote

Spotable combines satellite imagery, LiDAR, geographic data, and custom algorithms to generate roof and facade geometry. A contractor can select surfaces and edges, review dimensions, and export a measurement report. The same project can carry material quantities, labor, cost, margin, and VAT into an estimate and quotation.

Official product updates show multi-building selection, instant 3D-model availability checks, linked clients, project files, notes, and quote management. A separate reporting update documents PDF and Excel exports with surface areas, edge lengths, slopes, orientation, and 3D model views.

The contractor still controls the final price. That boundary matters because a model cannot know every commercial reality around a job. Local labor conditions, material availability, customer risk, access, scheduling, and margin discipline still require human judgment. Spotable's value is in reducing the work required before that judgment is applied.

The Market Wedge Is Pre-Sale Labor

Roofing and facade companies often commit skilled labor before they know whether a customer will sign. Someone drives to the property, measures the building, calculates quantities, checks prices, and assembles a proposal. When the quote loses, the contractor does not recover those hours.

Spotable says its platform saves eight hours per project and makes the quotation process 40% faster. The company also promotes outcomes including higher approval rates and weekly cost savings. Those figures are company-reported rather than independently audited, but the economic problem is easy to recognize: slow quoting limits how many opportunities a contractor can evaluate.

Remote measurement changes the decision boundary. A contractor can assess complexity and prepare a credible proposal before sending someone to the site. The software therefore competes for a place in the sales workflow, not just the production workflow.

Founders Split Across Operations, Commercial, and Technology

The three founders built a clear operating division. Vandendriessche leads as CEO, Dumoulin owns the commercial side as CRO, and Philips leads technology as CTO. In a Wintercircus interview, the founders described learning alongside early roofing customers who checked Spotable's measurements against drones and manual work.

That skepticism is useful product pressure. Construction customers are responsible for expensive physical projects, and precision has to survive contact with field experience. Trust is earned when a digital measurement keeps matching what a contractor sees on the building.

The founders' roles also mirror the company's next challenge. Spotable needs a reliable geometry engine, a product that fits contractor operations, and a commercial system that can sell through direct relationships, distributors, suppliers, and regional partners.

Traction Meets an International Test

Spotable reports 350 customers, a team of 30, and more than 10 million square metres processed. The company began in Belgium and the Netherlands and is moving into France, Germany, and the United States.

The €4 million Seed round includes Jonas Dhaenens of team.blue, Christophe Morbee of NewSchool.vc, the family office of Hilde Cloostermans and Philip Corens, and Arne Vandendriessche of Get Driven. The Harbour guided the round. DevCuration's Funding Announcement covers the transaction and its expansion thesis in detail.

Geometry may travel well, but quoting inputs do not. Material catalogs, supplier relationships, prices, tax treatment, labor assumptions, construction practices, and customer expectations change by market. Spotable must localize the commercial data surrounding each model without losing the speed that made remote measurement valuable.

Hiring Reveals the Work Ahead

Spotable's current careers page lists six named openings in Ghent plus a spontaneous-application path. The company is hiring for international partnerships, field sales in France and the Netherlands, research engineering, multilingual content, and growth marketing.

The mix is more informative than a general claim that the company is growing. A research-engineering role points toward deeper work in geometry, spatial reasoning, 3D reconstruction, computer vision, and computational topology. Sales and partnership roles point toward local market entry and distributor relationships. Marketing roles point toward the acquisition and activation system needed to turn regional awareness into usage.

Hiring is therefore an operating signal. Spotable is building the engine and the routes to market at the same time.

What Spotable Signals for Construction Technology

Construction software often begins by digitizing a document or moving an existing process onto a screen. Spotable is aiming at a more consequential shift: changing when physical fieldwork becomes necessary.

If an address can produce a trustworthy model, measurement report, material takeoff, and proposal, the first site visit can happen later and with better information. That does not remove contractors from the process. It reserves their time and judgment for the jobs most likely to become real work.

Spotable's durable advantage will not come from generating a clean 3D model alone. It will come from making that model commercially useful across different suppliers, countries, and contractor habits. The company's next chapter is a test of whether one address can become a repeatable sales workflow without flattening the local knowledge that makes a quote credible.
