Series A

$42M just walked into vulnerability management and did not ask for permission. Cogent Security just closed a $42M Series A led by Bain Capital Ventures, with Greylock Partners and Definition in the mix, plus strategic angels from OpenAI, Abnormal Security, and Datadog. Total funding now sits at $53M. Not bad for a company that stepped out of stealth in July 2025 with an $11M round led by Greylock Partners and backed by Lockstep. Some companies tiptoe into the market. Cogent Security kicked the door in and brought receipts.

Congratulations to Vineet Edupuganti, Co-Founder and CEO, Geng Sng, Co-Founder and CTO, and Thanos Baskous, VP Engineering and Co-Founder. This trio has seen the movie before. Abnormal Security. Coinbase. Blackstone. Infrastructure at scale. Real security pain. The kind that does not show up in a pitch deck but shows up at 2 a.m. when a critical vuln sits untouched in a queue of 10,000.

Here is the uncomfortable truth. Most enterprises do not have a vulnerability problem. They have a vulnerability management problem. Discovery is loud. Remediation is quiet, political, messy. Cogent Security lives in that messy middle. Their agentic AI platform connects to existing scanners, normalizes the noise, prioritizes with business context, drives remediation through real workflows, and then proves the fix actually worked. Connect. Prioritize. Drive. Prove. Rhythm matters.

The numbers are not subtle. 3x increase in team output. 97% reduction in exposure window for critical vulnerabilities. 3 hours from onboarding to full assessment. Those are not vanity metrics. Those are board level conversations shifting from why are we exposed to here is the evidence we reduced risk.

And this is where the capital makes sense. Bain Capital Ventures does not lead rounds for science projects. Greylock Partners has a long memory in security. When both double down, it signals something. The market is tired of dashboards that diagnose but do not heal. Security leaders want leverage. Engineering teams want clarity. Executives want proof.

Cogent. The name fits. Clear. Logical. Coherent. In a space drowning in alerts, clarity is a weapon. Agentic AI is not the headline. Ownership is. Ownership of the work after discovery. Ownership of the backlog. Ownership of the outcome.

If you run security at a Fortune 1000 and your backlog looks like a landfill with a login screen, this is not another tool. It is a force multiplier. And if you are building in cybersecurity, pay attention to what just got funded. The capital is chasing platforms that close the loop, not just light it up.
