Ricursive Intelligence Raises $300M for Self-Improving AI Systems, Valued at $4 Billion

Funding Announcement

There’s a quiet violence in waiting years for a chip while algorithms sprint ahead. That gap is where progress stalls, budgets die, and ambition meets gravity. Ricursive Intelligence was born inside that friction, not as a thought experiment, but as a response. Palo Alto. A house near Stanford University. December 2, 2025. Two founders who already proved this could work decided to stop asking permission.

Anna Goldie PhD and Azalia Mirhoseini PhD didn’t stumble into the problem. They helped create it, then outgrew it. AlphaChip at Google DeepMind made something clear: AI could design silicon better, faster, and stranger than humans. Curves, donuts, layouts that looked wrong until the power numbers came back right. When four generations of Google TPUs shipped that way, the signal landed. Hardware stopped being a craft problem. It became a systems problem.

Ricursive Intelligence isn’t selling faster chips. It’s compressing time. The platform runs a recursive loop: AI designs silicon, that silicon trains stronger models, and those models design the next chip. Weeks instead of years. End to end, from workload definition to GDSII-clean output. This isn’t automation theater. It’s reinforcement learning, graph optimization, large language models, and distributed compute working like a pit crew that never sleeps.

On January 26, 2026, the market answered. A $300M Series A led by Lightspeed VP, with Guru Chahal joining the board. DST Global. NVentures from NVIDIA. Felicis Ventures. Radical AI. 49 Palms Ventures. Returning conviction from Sequoia Capital via Stephanie Zhan. Fifty-five days after public launch, Ricursive landed a $4B post-money valuation. Not hype speed. Execution speed.

The team reads like a lab where whiteboards fear for their lives. Anna Goldie from Google DeepMind, Anthropic AI, and Stanford. Azalia Mirhoseini, co-author of the Mixture of Experts paper powering modern frontier models, now running the Scaling Intelligence Lab at Stanford. Founding engineers who’ve lived inside real silicon timelines and decided those timelines were optional.

The name Ricursive matters. This is about feedback, momentum, and systems that improve because they’re allowed to. The semiconductor bottleneck has long been an unspoken tax on progress. Ricursive Intelligence is treating it like a bug, not a law of physics. If you care where AI hits its next ceiling, watch who’s lowering the floor.
