Integrated Power Gets Strategic Backing for Grid Expansion

Integrated Power has received a strategic investment from Applied Invest as rising U.S. electricity demand increases the value of contractors that can build critical grid infrastructure without multiplying the handoffs around it. The September 14, 2026 transaction covers Integrated Power Co. and J.A. Wever Construction collectively, while J.A. Wever, Josh Dezort, and the existing management team remain in charge.

The official announcement does not disclose the investment amount, ownership percentage, valuation, security type, or detailed terms. Applied Invest says it will contribute capital, operating support, and industry relationships to a business working across substations, transmission lines, and power-generation facilities.

The deal matters because grid expansion becomes a coordination problem before it becomes an electricity problem. A substation can need civil foundations, high-voltage electrical construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and energization to land in one safe sequence, and each extra boundary between contractors creates another place for time and accountability to leak.

What Applied Invest Is Backing

Integrated Power was founded in 2013 by J.A. Wever and Josh Dezort, building on the foundation-services business J.A. Wever established in 2007. The company operates across the United States, with particular strength in central and southern regions and primary operating locations in North Platte, Nebraska, and Simms, Texas.

The company's service model joins electrical work with the civil and foundation capabilities beneath it. Integrated Power's official site lists medium- and high-voltage substation construction, engineering-procurement-construction capability, renewable-energy construction, and oil-pipeline substation work. The transaction announcement also places transmission lines and power-generation facilities inside the scope.

That combination can reduce the coordination burden on utilities, developers, and project owners. The value is not a magical elimination of project risk; it is a clearer operating relationship across scopes that otherwise have to be scheduled, supervised, and reconciled separately.

Why Grid Execution Matters Now

U.S. electricity demand has returned to sustained growth after a long period when planners could treat load as comparatively flat. The September 2026 Short-Term Energy Outlook from the U.S. Energy Information Administration expects electricity sales to total 4,135 billion kilowatt-hours in 2026, nearly 2% above 2025, followed by another increase in 2027.

Commercial demand is carrying much of that change. EIA expects commercial-sector electricity sales to rise 3.3% in 2026, with data-center development and manufacturing activity helping drive record consumption. That forecast does not establish any specific revenue or customer pipeline for Integrated Power, but it does explain why the field capacity behind substations and transmission work is becoming strategically valuable.

The Department of Energy's 2026 draft National Transmission Needs Study reaches a similar conclusion from the infrastructure side. DOE says data centers, expanding domestic manufacturing, large industrial loads, and economic growth are creating a pressing need for additional transmission infrastructure. More proposed generation or load still has to move through engineering, permitting, equipment, construction, and skilled field work before it becomes an operating asset.

The Investor's Operating Thesis

Applied Invest describes itself as the family-office and social-impact arm spun out of Applied Value Group. Its public approach emphasizes an owner-operator model built around focus, simplification, capital allocation, and hands-on execution rather than passive financial ownership.

Bruce Grant, Applied Invest's Executive Chairman and Founder, framed Integrated Power around market position, leadership, and demand for reliable power infrastructure. Spencer Seabaugh, Principal, Investments, emphasized the company's integrated capabilities, execution, management team, and people. Their language places the investment logic inside operating quality rather than a disclosed financial multiple.

J.A. Wever and Josh Dezort also described the partner choice in operating terms. J.A. Wever pointed to customers and employees, while Josh Dezort said Applied Invest's operating experience and industry relationships could support the momentum already created. The announcement preserves the current leadership team, which matters when the asset being financed includes field knowledge, customer trust, and the judgment required to manage safety and schedule across live infrastructure work.

What the Deal Does Not Reveal

The strategic label should not be stretched into a priced funding round or acquisition. Applied Invest and Integrated Power did not disclose how much capital changed hands, whether the transaction includes primary capital, whether any shareholders received liquidity, or what percentage of the company Applied Invest now owns.

The companies also did not publish revenue, backlog, customer names, project counts, growth rates, prior financing, or a specific expansion budget. Those omissions do not negate the transaction, but they keep the public analysis focused on what the parties actually committed: continuing management control, capital support, operating resources, and industry relationships.

Integrated Power's current careers page lists openings including an Electrical Substation Superintendent and an on-site safety representative. Those jobs fit the company's field model, but the announcement does not say they were created by the investment, so they should be read as current operating context rather than promised use of proceeds.

What This Investment Changes

The transaction gives Integrated Power a partner that publicly claims experience in scaling companies through operating work as well as capital. For Integrated Power, the opportunity is to add capacity, relationships, and management support while keeping the integrated field model coherent across more jobs and a wider footprint.

The risk sits in the same place as the opportunity. Infrastructure contractors can grow their project count faster than they grow experienced supervision, safety culture, procurement discipline, and coordination across crews. Applied Invest's owner-operator promise becomes useful only if the additional support strengthens those systems without inserting another layer between the people making decisions and the people doing the work.

For utilities and project owners, the practical measure will be visible on schedules rather than term sheets. Foundations need to be ready when equipment arrives, electrical scopes need to meet commissioning plans, crews need to energize safely, and the customer needs fewer parties to chase when conditions change. Integrated Power has spent years building around that handoff; this investment gives the company a new partner inside the work that follows it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Integrated Power's combined electrical and civil model important?

Substation, transmission, and generation projects depend on foundations, electrical work, equipment installation, commissioning, and energization arriving in the correct sequence. Combining more of that scope under one operating relationship can reduce coordination burden for utilities, developers, and project owners.

What did Applied Invest disclose about the transaction?

Applied Invest described the deal as a strategic investment and said it would provide capital, operating support, and industry relationships. The parties did not disclose the amount, ownership percentage, valuation, security type, or detailed terms.

Who continues to lead Integrated Power after the investment?

Co-founders J.A. Wever and Josh Dezort remain Co-CEOs, and the existing management team continues to lead the company. Integrated Power's primary operating locations are in North Platte, Nebraska, and Simms, Texas.

Why are grid contractors attracting strategic capital now?

U.S. electricity demand is rising as data centers, manufacturing, and other large loads expand. EIA and DOE forecasts point to more pressure on transmission and related infrastructure, increasing the value of skilled field execution and dependable project coordination.

What should customers watch as Integrated Power grows?

The practical indicators are schedule discipline, safety, experienced supervision, procurement coordination, and the ability to keep civil and electrical scopes aligned across more projects. Those operating outcomes will show whether Applied Invest's support strengthens the model that attracted the investment.
