Company Spotlight: Falcon Gases Builds Local Scale

Independent gas distributors carry a strange combination of infrastructure and memory. The product may be standardized, but the customer experience depends on who keeps cylinders available, understands the application, and answers when a plant, lab, hospital, or contractor cannot wait.

Falcon Gases is building a packaged-gas distribution platform around that local operating reality. Founded in late 2025, the company partners with independent distributors, adds capital and operating support, and aims to preserve the people, customer relationships, and reputations that made those businesses valuable. Falcon is led by CEO Pete Jeffe alongside CCO Chris Granger, VP Projects Steve Morton, and CFO Eric Friedman.

Falcon matters now because industrial-gas distribution is attracting private-equity capital at the same time many independent operators are weighing growth, succession, and the cost of modernizing a physical service business. Falcon's first acquisition, Encore Gas & Supply, gives the platform an operating base in Southern California and a visible place to prove that regional scale can coexist with local continuity.

About Falcon Gases

Falcon Gases was created to assemble and grow independent packaged-gas distributors. The company serves markets that rely on industrial, medical, and specialty gases; bulk and microbulk delivery; welding equipment and supplies; and technical services. Falcon's stated strategy is to build regional density in selected markets through organic growth and acquisitions.

The company offers owners deal liquidity plus equity in the larger platform. That structure gives sellers a chance to participate in Falcon's future value while Falcon adds procurement knowledge, industrial-gas operating experience, sales support, acquisition capability, and capital. The pitch is built for owners who want growth or succession without immediately surrendering the local identity customers and employees recognize.

Falcon began with Tailwind Capital's backing in September 2025. In September 2026, Odyssey Investment Partners took a strategic majority stake as Falcon acquired Encore Gas & Supply. The values and detailed terms of those transactions were not disclosed.

The Problem Falcon Gases Is Solving

Industrial gases look like commodities from far away. Up close, distribution is a service system. A customer needs the correct gas, cylinder, purity, pressure, equipment, safety knowledge, delivery window, and technical answer in the place where work is happening. Missing any part of that chain can interrupt production, fabrication, healthcare, laboratory work, food processing, construction, or another physical operation.

Independent distributors often build durable advantages through local inventory, route knowledge, specialized employees, and relationships that do not appear neatly on a balance sheet. The same businesses may face succession questions, technology investments, procurement pressure, or a need for capital to add locations and product capacity. Falcon is trying to connect those local strengths with a larger operating and financial platform.

The central risk is familiar to every distribution rollup. Standardizing systems can improve purchasing, data, finance, and service capacity, but careless integration can remove the autonomy and response speed customers valued. Falcon's partnership language will matter only if acquired distributors become stronger without becoming harder to recognize.

Products, Markets, and the Encore Operating Base

Falcon's product scope covers hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene, argon, carbon dioxide, propane, compressed air, custom blends, industrial and medical gases, and welding supplies. The business is not selling one proprietary technology. It is coordinating supply, physical assets, technical service, and customer access across a fragmented market.

Encore Gas & Supply makes that model concrete. Founded in 2014 by Ben Anderson and Kelly Park, Encore operates three Southern California showrooms plus a specialty and industrial gas facility. The company serves manufacturing, metal fabrication, aerospace, construction, energy, food and beverage, and other customers that depend on consistent supply and support.

As Falcon's first operating company, Encore is both an asset and a standard. Future distributor owners will look at how Falcon treats Encore's employees, customer commitments, capital needs, and local decision-making. Customers will judge the platform through availability, delivery, technical knowledge, and whether familiar people still solve urgent problems.

Leadership Built Around Industrial Operations

Falcon's leadership team combines company building, industrial-gas operations, finance, and acquisition experience. Pete Jeffe previously co-founded Hawkwood Energy and led StratosFuel. Falcon says his career includes more than 50 transactions totaling over $1.5B, giving the CEO experience with both entrepreneurial growth and private-equity-backed scale.

Chris Granger spent more than 40 years across Union Carbide, Praxair/Linde, and BayoTech. Steve Morton brings nearly 40 years in operations and safety, including senior Praxair/Linde roles and work as Stratos COO. Eric Friedman has worked across investment banking, private equity, startups, clean energy, hydrogen, and nonprofit growth. Falcon's official biographies identify Jeffe, Morton, and Friedman as co-founders; the company lists no CTO.

That mix fits Falcon's actual job. The platform needs people who can assess a distributor, finance a transaction, understand gas operations, integrate systems, preserve safety, and earn the confidence of owners who may be selling a family business rather than a spreadsheet.

Why Falcon Gases Matters Now

An industrial-gas market analysis published in February 2026 estimated that independent distributors represent roughly 10% of the U.S. market. The same analysis counted close to 40 publicly announced U.S. industrial-gas transactions in 2025 and estimated that nearly 25% were private-equity backed. Those figures are industry estimates, but they show why multiple investors are building distribution platforms around regional operators.

Falcon enters that market with fresh majority capital, an experienced leadership team, and an acquired operating base. What it does not yet disclose is equally important: revenue, customer count, transaction economics, future locations, acquisition targets, or a public hiring plan. No verified Falcon careers page or active job roster was found, so hiring cannot yet be treated as a market signal.

The company will earn its position through execution that customers and distributor owners can see. Encore's local operations now carry the first proof point. If Falcon can improve procurement, service capacity, employee opportunity, and regional reach without weakening the relationships inside the branches, its platform will become more than a financial structure. It will become a repeatable way for independent industrial-gas businesses to change ownership without losing the operating memory that kept customers supplied.
