BuildForward Asks Healthtech Builders to Walk the Patient Journey
Healthcare innovation is usually presented from the system looking out. BuildForward is asking an SF Tech Week group to turn around and walk the same landscape from the patient side.
The Friday morning route begins at the Ferry Building, continues along the Embarcadero to Pier 7, and returns. The invitation is aimed at founders, product builders, clinicians, designers, and operators working on patient-centered health technology. Coffee and conversation replace the panel, while healthcare and AI remain present without becoming the only lens.
That distinction matters. A product can make a workflow faster and still make the care experience harder to navigate. It can produce more information without helping a patient understand what happens next. Walking the route as a mixed group creates room to compare where the patient journey fractures across interfaces, institutions, incentives, and moments when a person is already carrying more uncertainty than the system acknowledges.
The event does not promise a roadmap for patient-centered care. It offers something smaller and potentially more honest: ninety minutes to notice where builders are solving the same journey from different sides, and where the handoff between them still disappears.
