In 2018, while most security teams were still obsessing over endpoints and perimeter defenses, Brendan O’Connor and Brian Soby were focused on a blind spot hiding in plain sight: SaaS. The enterprise had already shifted its crown jewels into cloud applications, yet visibility inside those environments was fragmented at best. From San Mateo, they founded AppOmni with a conviction shaped by experience. Brendan O’Connor had served as Security CTO at ServiceNow and previously led security at Salesforce. Brian Soby had led product security at Salesforce. They understood how modern applications behave under real enterprise pressure, and they built the platform they wished had existed when they were on the inside.

AppOmni emerged as a purpose-built leader in SaaS Security Posture Management, long before the category became crowded. The platform delivers continuous visibility into configurations, permissions, and data exposure across business-critical applications. It manages human and non-human identities, including AI agents and copilots, enforcing least-privilege access where complexity multiplies risk. It detects risky third-party integrations, flags excessive OAuth grants, and aligns posture with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA. As AI adoption accelerates inside enterprise applications, AppOmni has extended its capabilities into AI security posture management, treating AI systems as accountable actors rather than experimental features.

Capital followed clarity. AppOmni has raised at least $123M across Series B and Series C rounds, with backing from Thoma Bravo, Cisco Investments, Salesforce Ventures, ServiceNow Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, ClearSky, Costanoa Ventures, Inner Loop Capital, Silicon Valley Data Capital, and The Syndicate Group. That investor base reflects conviction in the durability of the SaaS security market and in AppOmni’s execution within it.

The leadership team reinforces that signal. Brendan O’Connor serves as CEO and Co-Founder. Brian Soby is CTO and Co-Founder. Neill Occhiogrosso operates as COO. Nick Degnan drives revenue and customer strategy as CRO & Chief Customer Officer. Chandra Sekar leads brand and market presence as CMO. Tina Hawk oversees talent and culture as Chief People Officer. This is a team built for scale, not experimentation.

Industry recognition underscores performance. AppOmni has been named a Growth and Innovation Leader in the 2025 Frost Radar for SSPM, received the Frost and Sullivan 2025 Technology Innovation Leadership Award, and earned Leader and Fast Mover distinction in the 2024 GigaOm Radar. It is also certified as a Great Place to Work in the USA and UK. Those validations matter in a market where trust is the product.

As enterprises deepen their dependence on SaaS and embed AI into daily workflows, the surface area expands faster than traditional controls can keep up. AppOmni sits precisely at that intersection, providing the visibility and governance layer that modern security teams cannot afford to improvise. For operators, investors, and builders tracking durable infrastructure plays, this is not noise. It is structural.
