Engineering leaders are being asked to produce measurable gains from AI while the playbook changes underneath their teams. Delivery is supposed to move faster. Code quality still has to hold. People need room to learn, and executives want results before the operating model has settled. That accountability gap is the working problem behind LeadDev Berlin 2026.
On November 9 and 10, LeadDev will bring engineering managers, senior technical leaders, staff engineers, and technology executives to the Estrel Congress Centre in Berlin. The program is built around the decisions leaders are already making on AI adoption, team structure, developer capability, code review, hiring, architecture, measurement, and burnout.
AI adoption is no longer a side experiment for many engineering organizations. It is becoming part of delivery expectations, which means leaders have to decide what should accelerate, what still needs human judgment, and how to tell whether the apparent productivity gain is durable.
The official program puts those questions next to each other. Darragh Curran of Fin is scheduled to discuss the systems and culture behind AI acceleration. Serhii Yakovenko of Marks & Spencer is bringing a case study on AI-powered code review across more than 200 engineers. Bhavana Hindupur of Meta will examine how faster code generation changes technical debt, while Becki Wordsworth of Meela is focused on the capability gaps that can become harder to see when managers only see the pull request.
That combination matters because these are not separate management topics. A review tool changes the feedback loop. The feedback loop changes how engineers learn. The learning model changes how leaders evaluate performance, staffing, architecture, and risk.
Pat Kua will host a lineup that includes Laura Tacho of AWS, Mathieu Bastian of GetYourGuide, Diana Nanuti of Chainalysis, Yemi Ogoundélé of Personio, Sibani Mishra of Optum, Serg Kravchenko of Bloomberg, Nikita Rathi of Taxfix, Laura Grau Ramírez of XING, Jennifer Wadella of Chromatic, Toni Bakarčić of Sofascore, Annie Freeman of Coralogix, and Jasmine James Fuller of Block.
The main stage is only one part of the format. LeadDev is also planning workshops, table talks, speaker office hours, coaching sessions, career conversations, and a day-one networking mixer. Those smaller rooms should give attendees a chance to compare the decisions behind the case studies, including where adoption stalled, which measurements held up, and how leaders handled expectations that were ahead of reality.
A conference does not settle an operating model. It can make the tradeoffs easier to see. LeadDev Berlin is assembling leaders from large platforms, product companies, and engineering organizations at different stages of AI adoption. The value will come from the points where their answers diverge: what they automated, what they protected, how they measured trust, and where organizational pressure changed the technical decision.
The program is still subject to change. Readers should use the official LeadDev Berlin page for the current agenda, speaker lineup, ticket availability, and registration details.
