Rillet Raises $100M Series C at $1B Valuation

Rillet announced a $100M Series C led by ICONIQ at a $1B valuation on August 17, 2026. Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Global Equities, Bain Capital Ventures, Oak HC/FT, Battery Ventures, FirstMark, Scale Venture Partners, and Creandum participated, pushing the AI-native ERP company's total funding above $200M.

The financing matters because Rillet is arguing that finance agents belong inside the governed system of record, not in a clever interface sitting above it. The company combines a real-time general ledger, continuous close workflows, accounting controls, native integrations, reporting, and AI agents in one operating layer where humans still retain approval authority and every action remains auditable.

That is a more consequential pitch than making month-end close slightly less miserable. It is a bid to define where enterprise AI becomes trusted enough to handle financial work with real economic and regulatory consequences.

What Rillet Announced

ICONIQ led the Series C with continued participation from Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz, alongside a broader group of venture and growth investors. Rillet announced the valuation at $1B and said the new round brings cumulative funding to more than $200M, though the company did not disclose ownership, dilution, closing mechanics, or a detailed allocation of proceeds.

The round follows a compressed financing history. Rillet announced $13.5M in July 2024, a $25M Series A in May 2025, and a $70M Series B in August 2025, just 10 weeks after the Series A. Capital does not prove the product wins, but it gives Rillet room to build while enterprise finance buyers test whether a new ledger can replace software that has survived mostly because removing it feels like open-heart surgery for the accounting department.

Rillet was founded in 2021 by Nicolas Kopp, the company's CEO, and Stelios Modes, its CTO. Kopp previously served as US CEO of N26, while Rillet has described Modes as the technical architect behind N26's payment infrastructure. Their origin story gives the company an unusually direct reason to attack slow financial reporting: Kopp has said that even a strong finance team could not deliver verified business numbers quickly because the systems beneath it were built for another era.

Why the Product Thesis Matters

Most AI products for finance begin above the ledger. They summarize reports, draft explanations, search documents, or automate tasks around systems that still treat accounting as a database of completed transactions. Rillet's thesis starts lower in the stack, where structured data enters a real-time general ledger and AI agents operate with the same policies, permissions, controls, and audit trail as the people responsible for the books.

That architecture matters when the work moves beyond a demonstration. Revenue recognition, intercompany eliminations, multi-entity consolidation, period locks, approvals, and audit evidence do not reward improvisation. An AI assistant can sound impressive while being wrong; an accounting system has to show what changed, why it changed, who approved it, and how the answer traces back to source data.

Rillet's platform includes continuous close workflows, advanced revenue recognition, multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, reporting, security controls, and native integrations. Its product materials also describe Aura AI and natural-language interaction with live financial data, while the Series C announcement frames the larger goal as an agentic operating layer for the finance organization.

The Traction Behind the Valuation

Rillet says it now serves more than 600 customers and that new annual recurring revenue doubled during the three months before the announcement. The company also says its customers include public enterprises and fast-growing AI businesses, while larger organizations are replacing Oracle Fusion, SAP, Workday, Microsoft Great Plains, and NetSuite with Rillet.

Those metrics come from Rillet, not audited public disclosures, so they deserve attribution rather than blind applause. Even with that qualification, the direction is notable: the company reported more than 200 customers at its August 2025 Series B and now says it has crossed 600. Its current customer materials name companies including Mercor, Function Health, and Temporal, and the Series C release says Mercor has scaled beyond $2B in ARR with a three-person finance team using the platform.

Rillet is also building credibility with the firms that audit and advise large finance organizations. An alliance with EY, announced in April 2026, pairs Rillet's platform with finance transformation, risk, and controls expertise. That relationship does not certify every product claim, but it shows Rillet understands that enterprise adoption depends on controls and implementation discipline as much as software features.

The Competitive Landscape

Rillet is competing against incumbent ERP vendors and a new class of AI-native accounting companies. The incumbents have distribution, installed bases, partner ecosystems, and years of financial workflows embedded inside customer operations. The challengers have cleaner architectures and fewer historical compromises, but they still have to convince controllers and CFOs to move the ledger that supports audits, board reporting, tax work, and daily operating decisions.

That switching problem is the market. A finance team can tolerate another analytics tool failing quietly at the edge of the stack; it cannot tolerate a general ledger producing unreliable statements. Rillet's financing gives it more resources to support implementations, deepen integrations, expand controls, and enter industries such as healthcare, biotech, fintech, logistics, and professional services, where accounting complexity rises quickly.

The $1B valuation therefore represents a wager on trust, not merely model quality. If Rillet can make agents productive inside controlled financial workflows while keeping accountants and auditors comfortable with the evidence, it can become infrastructure. If it cannot, the market will treat agentic finance as another expensive layer attached to the same systems buyers already resent.

What the Series C Signals

The broader signal is that enterprise AI is moving from interfaces into systems that carry authority. The most valuable agents will not simply answer questions; they will perform governed work inside environments where permissions, policy, context, and consequences are explicit. Finance is a demanding test because errors travel directly into reporting, compliance, cash decisions, and executive credibility.

For operators, the lesson is not to buy every product that adds an agent to its homepage. The better question is whether the system understands the rules of the work, can explain its actions, preserves human approval where needed, and produces an audit trail strong enough to survive scrutiny. Speed without those controls is just a more efficient way to schedule an uncomfortable meeting.

Congratulations to Nicolas Kopp, Stelios Modes, and the Rillet team on reaching the unicorn threshold. The next stage will be measured less by the size of the round than by whether Rillet can turn 600 customers, accounting-firm alliances, and a heavily funded product roadmap into the trusted operating layer it says modern finance requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did Rillet announce in its Series C?

Rillet announced a $100M Series C led by ICONIQ at a $1B valuation on August 17, 2026. The company said the round brings its total funding to more than $200M.

What does Rillet's AI-native ERP do?

Rillet combines a real-time general ledger, continuous close workflows, accounting controls, reporting, integrations, and AI agents. The goal is to let people and agents perform financial work inside the same governed system with approvals and an audit trail.

Why are investors backing an AI-native accounting platform?

The investor thesis is that valuable finance agents need governed financial context, not just access to reports or documents. Working inside the ledger can give agents policies, permissions, source data, approvals, and traceability that an external assistant may lack.

Are Rillet's customer and growth metrics independently audited?

Rillet reports more than 600 customers and says new annual recurring revenue doubled in the three months before the announcement. Those figures are company-reported operating metrics, not audited public disclosures.
