Procuros Raises €20M for Autonomous B2B Trade

Patrick Thelen watched sales orders move through fax machines, PDFs and customer portals. Benjamin Wulff spent time at Airbus building interfaces that could take 1 to 2 years. Procuros began where those experiences met: trade was already digital, but companies were still carrying it between incompatible systems by hand.

The Hamburg company has now raised a €20M Series A, approximately $22.5M at the European Central Bank's October 6 reference rate, to expand that connective layer across Europe and the United States. XAnge led the round, with W23 Global joining as a new investor and Point Nine, Creandum, b2venture, SquareOne Venture Capital and angel investors participating. The round was announced on October 6, 2026.

What Procuros Raised and Who Backed It

The Series A brings Procuros' company-reported total funding to €34M. Patrick Thelen, CEO and co-founder, and Benjamin Wulff, CTO and co-founder, started the company in Hamburg in 2021. Earlier disclosed rounds include a €1M pre-seed in 2021 and a $9M Seed reported by Tech.eu in 2022.

XAnge is leading the current financing around a specific infrastructure thesis. The firm argues that autonomous B2B commerce needs a reliable data layer that works across entire trading networks. W23 Global adds the perspective of a fund backed by major grocery retailers, while the participation of existing investors gives Procuros continued support from firms already familiar with the company's operating record.

Procuros says it will use the capital to continue developing its AI-native supply-chain infrastructure, strengthen go-to-market execution and expand beyond its DACH and UK base. The valuation and individual investor allocations were not disclosed.

Why Supply-Chain Connectivity Still Creates Manual Work

Orders, order responses, shipping notices, invoices and product data move between organizations that often use different ERP systems, identifiers, file formats and business rules. Traditional electronic data interchange can move structured information, but every new trading relationship may still create mapping, testing and maintenance work. Smaller suppliers may rely on spreadsheets, PDFs, email or portals instead.

That fragmentation turns routine commerce into exception handling. A product code does not match. A delivery date changes. An invoice quantity differs from the order. A payment term is missing. People re-enter data, chase confirmations and decide which record reflects the actual agreement. Adding an AI agent does not remove those conflicts unless the agent receives trustworthy data and enough business context to resolve them safely.

How Procuros Connects Suppliers and Retailers

Procuros asks a company to connect once, then translates and routes transactions among EDI/EDIFACT, X12, XML, CSV, Excel, JSON, PDFs, APIs, AS2, SFTP, portals and ERP systems. The company says its platform validates transactions against master data, contracts and order history before records reach the customer's internal system.

Those checks can cover article numbers, buyer and supplier IDs, required fields, order references, tax, totals, delivery details, quantities, prices, payment terms and addresses. The result is intended to be more than document conversion. Procuros is trying to preserve the commercial context that connects an order to the shipping notice, invoice and exception that follow.

The platform currently covers workflows including order entry, order responses, shipping notices, invoices and master data. Procuros describes that shared context as the foundation for AI agents that can automate work across company boundaries. The available evidence supports an established connectivity product and a growing customer network; it does not establish that customer supply chains already run autonomously from end to end without human oversight.

Traction Across DACH and the UK

Procuros and XAnge report more than 300 customers across DACH and the UK and more than €3B in annualized order volume moving through the platform. Named customers include Breuninger, Chefs Culinar, KoRo, flaconi, The Quality Group and Hitschler. Those figures are company and investor reported rather than independently audited.

The company's customer stories show why the network matters. KoRo uses Procuros across more than 300 trading partners, connecting purchase orders, confirmations, shipping notices, invoices and credit notes around Microsoft Business Central. KoRo reports more than 20,000 invoices processed annually and a 90% reduction in manual processing time.

Niche Beauty reports digitizing more than 300 active suppliers, including 100 suppliers brought live in one week. The company says its buying team reduced manual administration by about 90% while suppliers continued using formats suited to their own technical capabilities. These are first-party case-study results, but they illustrate the operating problem Procuros is selling against: every trading partner should not require another custom integration project.

What the Series A Changes

Procuros now has to carry a model proven in its home markets into different commercial networks, ERP environments and supplier bases. European and U.S. expansion will require more than translating file types. The company must build enough connectivity, implementation capacity and customer trust that retailers and suppliers treat Procuros as shared infrastructure rather than another software layer to maintain.

The funding also gives Procuros room to deepen the product's agentic capabilities. Reliable automation depends on what happens when information is incomplete, conflicting or late. The software has to recognize the exception, understand which commercial rule applies and return judgment to a person when the evidence does not support an automatic decision.

The Infrastructure Bet Behind Autonomous B2B Trade

The most visible AI products are often the agents that speak, recommend and act. Procuros is working on the less visible condition that determines whether those actions can survive contact with another company: a shared record of who is trading, what was ordered, what changed, what shipped and what must be paid.

That makes the €20M Series A a bet on the transaction layer beneath autonomous trade. Procuros already has customers, volume and documented workflows moving through the network. The next stage is proving that the same connective model can travel across new markets while preserving the context and reliability that made those transactions worth automating in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does supply-chain connectivity matter for AI agents?

AI agents need consistent data and commercial context before they can act safely across company boundaries. Procuros connects orders, shipping notices, invoices, master data and exceptions so an agent is not making decisions from isolated or conflicting records.

How does Procuros differ from a point-to-point EDI integration?

Procuros asks a company to connect once, then translates and validates transactions across different partner formats and systems. The model is designed to avoid rebuilding a custom integration whenever a retailer or supplier adds another trading partner.

What will Procuros use the €20M Series A for?

The company says the financing will support further product development, stronger go-to-market execution and expansion from DACH and the UK into more of Europe and the United States.

What traction has Procuros reported?

Procuros and lead investor XAnge report more than 300 customers across DACH and the UK and more than €3B in annualized order volume. Those metrics are company and investor reported rather than independently audited.

Are Procuros customers already running fully autonomous supply chains?

The reviewed sources show an established connectivity platform and documented automation across several transaction workflows. They do not establish that customer supply chains already operate autonomously from end to end without human oversight.
