HelmGuard Raises $7.3M to Build AI Risk Assurance

HelmGuard has raised a $7.3M Seed round to move governance, risk, and compliance work closer to the systems where risk is actually created. Infinity Ventures and Frontline co-led the September 9, 2026 financing, with FinTech Collective, Stage 2 Capital, and Entrepreneur First participating.

The London-headquartered company is building AI agents that collect and assess evidence from source systems instead of asking risk teams to keep translating live operations into questionnaires, screenshots, and annual reports. The funding will support engineering and go-to-market hiring, a larger U.S. presence, and development of an assurance layer designed to evaluate AI-agent behavior at runtime.

That distinction matters because a compliance document records a moment. Vendors ship new features, models change, permissions expand, and agents gain access to more tools after the document has already been approved. HelmGuard is betting that regulated buyers will pay for a current, traceable assessment of those changes, not another faster way to complete the old paperwork.

What HelmGuard Announced

HelmGuard's $7.3M Seed announcement names Infinity Ventures and Frontline as co-leads and FinTech Collective, Stage 2 Capital, and Entrepreneur First as participants. The company did not disclose its valuation, the financing instrument, investor ownership, individual check sizes, or a complete list of angel investors.

This is also not a verified total-funding figure. An Atlas AI VB Fund portfolio record identifies an earlier pre-seed investment in May 2025 without disclosing the amount, so the responsible capital accounting is $7.3M for this Seed round and an unknown lifetime total.

HelmGuard says the money will fund hiring across engineering and go-to-market, expansion in New York and San Francisco alongside its London headquarters, and faster development of two connected ideas. One is an agent-assurance layer that evaluates behavior while an AI agent is running; the other is a Verified Risk Network intended to let organizations exchange current, verified claims instead of repeatedly trading static documents.

The Product Is Aiming at the Decision Layer

Traditional GRC software often becomes a warehouse for policies, questionnaires, evidence, and audit trails. Those records matter, but the operator still has to connect a changing vendor, a control, a business process, and a regulatory obligation before deciding whether the organization can accept the risk.

HelmGuard's product architecture starts with a connected data foundation called Atlas. Specialized agents then use that context to support workflows such as third-party risk management, control-gap assessment, customer assurance, and AI-agent oversight, while showing citations, reasoning traces, confidence information, and paths for human review.

The commercial wager is that customers want the assessment itself to move at software speed. That is more demanding than generating a cleaner questionnaire because the output must survive scrutiny from security teams, compliance leaders, auditors, regulators, procurement teams, and the business owner who still carries the consequence of a bad decision.

Customer Evidence Comes With an Important Boundary

HelmGuard says its users span the U.S., Canada, UK, Hong Kong, and South Africa across financial services, insurance, healthcare, and industrial companies. In its announcement, the company reports completing an assessment of 1,250 counterparties for a U.S. insurer in less than a week, moving that customer from a legacy platform in under 10 days, and reducing another customer's assurance first-response time from days to minutes.

Those are meaningful operating claims, but they remain company reported rather than independently audited benchmarks. A September 7 TELUS Health customer account adds a named enterprise reference: TELUS Health describes the platform as a foundation for managing complex entities, requirements, process pipelines, and human-in-the-loop controls across its GRC program.

The evidence is strongest when it explains the workflow being replaced. A risk team that spends weeks collecting files cannot re-evaluate every vendor or AI agent each time a model, data source, or permission changes. If HelmGuard can repeatedly turn those changes into traceable assessments, the product becomes part of the operating process rather than a reporting layer that wakes up before an audit.

Why the Investor Mix Fits the Expansion Plan

Infinity Ventures brings experience in fintech and commerce infrastructure, markets where auditability and regulated buying are built into the sale. Frontline backs European B2B software companies crossing into the U.S., which matches HelmGuard's planned New York and San Francisco expansion. Stage 2 Capital's go-to-market focus is also relevant to a company selling a technical product through long, multi-stakeholder enterprise buying cycles.

The founders bring the other half of that fit. John Daley, co-founder and CEO, spent 8 years at Palantir working around enterprise security, compliance, data protection, and operational risk. Jack Miller, co-founder and CTO, came through AI and machine-learning research, giving HelmGuard a leadership pair shaped by both enterprise deployment and model behavior.

AI Assurance Has to Keep Moving

NIST's AI Risk Management Framework organizes AI risk work around governing, mapping, measuring, and managing systems across their lifecycle. NIST is revising the framework and has continued publishing profiles for generative AI and critical infrastructure, reflecting how quickly the operating context keeps changing.

HelmGuard is trying to turn that need for continuous risk management into a product workflow. The company still has to prove that automated assessments remain accurate across messy enterprise systems, that evidence connections stay current, and that human reviewers can understand when an agent is uncertain or wrong. Regulated customers will not buy speed alone if the answer cannot be defended.

The $7.3M Seed gives HelmGuard room to expand on both sides of the Atlantic while its customers introduce more vendors, models, and autonomous workflows into production. Each new system creates another assurance question, and the value of HelmGuard's network will depend on whether it can keep answering those questions after the paperwork would have gone stale.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does HelmGuard do?

HelmGuard builds AI-driven governance, risk, compliance, and security software. Its agents collect and assess evidence from company systems and documents to support third-party risk, control-gap, customer-assurance, and AI-agent oversight workflows.

Why is HelmGuard's $7.3M Seed round important?

The round gives HelmGuard capital to hire, expand in the U.S., and develop runtime assurance for AI agents. It also tests whether regulated enterprises will move from periodic document reviews toward continuous, evidence-linked risk decisions.

Who invested in HelmGuard's Seed round?

Infinity Ventures and Frontline co-led the $7.3M Seed. FinTech Collective, Stage 2 Capital, and Entrepreneur First also participated.

How does HelmGuard differ from traditional GRC software?

HelmGuard says its platform connects risk information from source systems and uses specialized agents to assess it, while preserving citations, reasoning traces, and human review. The aim is to support a current decision rather than only produce or store compliance documents.

What remains undisclosed about HelmGuard's financing?

HelmGuard did not disclose its valuation, financing instrument, investor ownership, individual check sizes, complete angel roster, or prior financing amount. The $7.3M figure applies to this Seed round and should not be presented as verified lifetime funding.
